Updated REVIEW: Rapid Racer Products Enduro Guard 200mm/large

It protects you and the fork from the most of the mud and dirt and stones, but if its very muddy and its splashing mud from every direction or other riders it does not help much with seal guard.32732697525_afef6fc554_o

but the seal guard I have used it almost 7 months, and its still going strong, evo but the guy in the store tried to mount one white guard on one of my other bikes and it snapped(according to him).

enduro guard large green mounted on a FOX Evo29” no matter the size of  of the travel i think you should get size large, more protection the better, unless its a small kids bike.

IMG_20150907_152145

23842118325_aa2f158a92_o

As you can see the seal guard don’t help much, the featured picture shows it even better, as the seal is covered with snow.

After long ride, I discovered that it failed. I heard a lot of banging noises, when jumping or riding off a drop or hitting a root and now I know why.

Official site: http://www.rapidracerproducts.com/EnduroGuard.htm

Verdict:

Not Recommended, It failed after being used ca 1 year on my main bike,1 winter in 2016/2017, and few weeks on my spare bike, it’s not durable enough.

Give light protection against mud or gravel in your face, but does not catch everything in bad weather, my goggles will still get wet, muddy

You will definitely need a bigger & longer fender/mudguard if you plan do a mud bath.

Updated Review: 2015 Poc Index DH Vpd 2.0

Post originally posted Dec 16, 2015& Updated 12.01.2017

POC is well known for their protection product.

I have several POC products now and I recommend checking them out.

This glove is my favorite glove so far.

Pros

  • very comfy
  • light weight
  • Velcro strap
  • perfect fit.
  • Excellent padding
  • they cost the same as the giro remedy X  gloves and are way better when it comes to comfort & Poc offers protection padding but Giro does not.

Cons:

  • The adjustment strap is twisting.

because these gloves were actually bit too big(size large) I changed to 2016 Resistance strong gloves(size medium),the palm on some of the gloves worn out, I think this is caused by the material used & the venting holes in them, so far the Index Dh has been holding up OK,but I guess over long period of time they will eventually wear too.

Flickr album:https://www.flickr.com/photos/mtbboy1993/albums/72157661219836311

Conclusion: Recommended, for durability I recommend getting Index DH over the newer 2016 Resistance Strong gloves.

In my opinion, they are currently the best MTB gloves on the market right now.

Review:2015 Poc trail Vent shorts

I am happy with the protection products from POC.

I have not had a bad crash in these I can’t say what will happen exactly, but I assume they will do pretty well.

Attack position

Pros:

  • side zip venting, it is perfect for me, I can use the shorts in the spring and autumn and some mild winter days.
  • I use size 32, but I use the waist adjustment, but if would get chubby they would still fit.
  • the adjustment straps are perfect,i do not have the need for a belt, this is perfect for me because I hate to use belts when cycling.
  • the right zip pocket  will fit a smart normal size smart phone, my cat s50 fits perfectly.
  • can use a belt, but i prefer to use the Velcro straps instead.
  • comfortable
  • zippers are smooth
  • good length,I ride the shorts in the fall/autumn,I wear the shin and knee pads, with keeps me warm but not too warm, but of course when its winter I wear my craft rain pants over the poc stuff.26905195400_2eaf2febc5_b
  • strong threads/stitching
  • excellent and smooth zippers, and the button make it simple and easy to takeo n and off.

Cons:

  • The shorts should be longer.

  • the big Poc logo on the side might eventually fall off afther use and wash , as can  be seen here: i use 800rpm/ gentle wash, this is pretty common issue with printed logos, i got 2 pairs 1 in baron blue and oen in black ,this happend on the black shorts, but i have used&washed  the baron blue one more. i do not know why this happend so fast with htese shorts and did not happend on the blue shorts.ihave a adidas jacket, and this happend with it too,but this was with years of use,and now its crackign and falling off,so i was supriced so see it happenign to the poc short so fast.
    23548389654_d9ae59e8a6_b
  • IMG_20151229_014833.jpg
  • the fabric under the bottom show signs of wear, but nothing major it’s only on the inside, these 2 were the only signs of wear I have seen on the shorts so far.so fat it only happen on the black short.when you wear it the bottom tilts to the left and is rubbing the fabric,so it wears.
  • get bit hot in above 25 degrees Celsius

Conclusion:

If you can get Poc Resistance strong shorts instead get them.

The short is almost perfect, but need improvment on the button.

Review: POC Resistance Strong shorts

Review:BBB BSD-04 Anatomic Race-Black saddle- Uncomfortable

ncathis saddle has more cons than pros, it’s basicly butt torture for me.

the plastic on the sides and the plastic part that hold the rails will be pushed into your buttcheaks and will hurt when sitting on it.

i felt the saddle right where my butt bones/ischial tuberosities.

its very unconfortable saddle, the onyl reason i fot the saddle is because hte bontrager ssr saddle on my 3900 broke.

i now sue a Bontrager race RL wich flexes more and is thinenr btu still cmfortable.

Pros:

  • pretty durable
  • the front plate under the saddle did not breake
  • no screws popped out.
  • the grip, but can’t say how long it lasts becuase i got a new saddle as soon as i could

Review: 2015 Giro DND gloves

the durability, and wear resistance of these gloves are much better than then Remedy X gloves, because there is no horrible hook & loop strap that wears out.

I have used these gloves about the same time as the remedy x gloves but these gloves will last much longer.

my knuckle size is 21cm,  and i used size large.

Depending on your hand these might be a con or a pro: if you got abnormal big wrist bone and thick thumps these gloves are for you.

  • the thumb is bit too big for me
  • the wrist is too big for me.

Pros:

  • elastic part on side wrist to help with fit.
  • durable
  • very breathable
  • sweat wipe material on the side of the thumbs

Cons:

  • The seams inside, result in less comfort than Poc’s gloves, but nto so bad that I would not wear them.
  • no Velcro strap for the best fit
  • no touch screen support

Giro DND Mil Spec Olive / Highlight Yellow 2015 Gloves

Review: 2015 BBB-11 LOUD & CLEAR Bell

Pros

  • The spring system work very well, and never get stuck
  • the plastic will not bend and touch the metal bell it self so it will always stay loud.

Cons:

  • When wet , you can barely hear it.
  • the plastic spacers do not work, so when you have the screw tightened all the way it will slide off the plastic spacers, it did slide of when i was doing some trail riding with my bike,it came off. if you buy this bell you have to mount it in the middle/wide part of the handle bar, witch is very uncomfortable way to use it, or sue some rubber spacers instead, i had some laying around. so i did that and it seems to be secure.
  • cant adjust the angle, but the bells you can do that with are usually very bad
  • when it was -1 Celsius the bell was not loud
  • Bit less loud than the hamburger and Disney bells
  • When wet the bell is not loud.

Conclusion:

Not recommended,I later bought Disney Winnie The Pooh Bicycle Bell, which is as lout, but works in rain.

2 month REVIEW: 2014 Giro remedy x- Lacks durability

flickr album

you will definitely feel the stitching, and and that you got the glove on but it its still a wearable glove

PROS:

  • these gloves do not have a knuckle protection even it might look like they do for you.
  • good padding.
  • the part of the glove that got camo on it wears fast, it will wear out when washed often, the colours will fade, the small venting holes will be bigger or rip apart.
  • Protection on the fingers and and padding on the palm and side, so you wont get scratched when you hit a tree, but if will not give you full protection its not like knee or elbow pads
  • The synthetic leather from the palm extends over the finger tips so the stitching won’t wear off or rip, and its  comfortable, not like on the Mavic’s or Shimano gloves where the stitching came upward and under my finger nails.
  • special stitching with touch screen support, and it works well.
  • good venting

CONS:

  • not very comfortable, but wear able, but if you want very comfy gloves these are not for you,You can clearly feel the seams
  • the hook and loop strap do wear out very fast, father Ca 2 month it worn out
  • the protection pads are bad, not like on the Poc Index DH Vpd 2.0, witch is my favourite glove so far.
  • the touch screen stitching began to wear.
  • the glued-on rubber is peeling off, but this is normal, you can’t glue rubber on fabric and expect to stay on.
  • the vent on the left long finger rip

Conclusion

I can’t recommend these gloves, the lack of comfort and durability makes this a Not recommend product.

Review: POC Joint VPD Air Elbow pads

most of the elbow or knee pads I see on the market are not up to my standards, they are made as bad as the Bliss Arg knee and elbow pads.

the pad is cut so it bends easier and is more comfortable, but when I crashed one time and the pads squeezed my skin so it was red few days, but that not really a big issue

Pros:

  • easy and fast to take them on and off
  • the right materials used so they will be durable and wont wear out
  • very comfortable, not as hot as the bliss arg or similar pads.
  • they did not wear out just in weeks like the 2015 Bliss Arg.
  • light weight
  • not as bulky as bliss arg or 661 r similar designs,so you won’t look liek a robot wearing a jersey.
  • stay in place when you crash

Cons:

  •  upper strap is needed in my opinion,it will hold the pads in place more securely.
  • only one strap, but this should not be a issue if you got the right size. But if you hit something backwards and it gets hooked on the upper side it can pull the pad off.

Review: Adidas Pinner lime goggles W/ tear-offs

IMG_20150730_180222

the lens protection system does not work as shown in this picture, you can see pro downhill riders using these goggles but never seen one with lens protection on.but sponsored riders got some spare goggles.

pros

  • The version with dots stays in place good grip in the band, the triple striped grip less.
  • they are quite comfortable, the Nano-Foam is soft the plastic frame is flexing to fit the shape of your face.

Cons:

  • the tear off system does not work I tuck the plastic sense protector inside the gap where the head band goes, and bend it do not get in the way.

IMG_20151029_192729

  •  lens protector’s hole part rip easily, so I taped it instead of using it as intended.
  • Just after few weeks the show signs of wear. the Nano-Foam can easily tear apart, mine have issue with the section on my nose, and some on the sides the mesh loosened, but the foam fill wear off on every goggle on the market.
  •  IMG_20150730_18014427170110895_54861f96fc_b
  • no spare Nano-Foam mesh.
  • some of the clear coat on the inside of the plastic glass fell off. I noticed it after cleaning the goggles, after months of use it got worse.26563786804_26e7ccc8e5_b26895375560_c65a3c3bab_b
  •  it would be nice with a solution that makes it possible to change the mesh with easy thing like if you need to replace the foam you need to order from Amazon or some where else where they sell foam for goggles, but Adidas and sport stores do not sell replacement foam, that wear out, if it does not you are not using the goggles.
  • the elastic band stretched out on the triple stripe version, so I needed to tighten it more, on the tot version it did not.
  • The  triple striped grips crack.
  • in hot days the foam will get soaked of sweat and the sweat splashes on the inside of the lens, which result in the goggle stinking after just 1 or  2 days of use.
    https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7357/27121469590_3aa48f34d6_c.jpg
almost one hour of riding and the goggle is soaked with sweat

    https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7299/26817005863_70cea35cc6_b.jpg
the anti-fog coating is pealing off, as you can see I easily scratched it off,
the coating do no lunger work, the fog up but  i can’t wipe it off because it the damp is under the coating.
i have 2 goggles so i used them both 1 season and 1 winter and until now this summer.
You might not notice but there is fog inside in the middle section of the lens.

Flickr album

The only Norwegian online store that sell lenses for pinner goggles: http://www.tromsoskiogsykkel.no/ski/utstyr/skibriller/adidas-pinner-goggle-lens-clear

Adidas Pinner Vs 100% Racecraft MX

the only foam replacement kit I found is this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1o6RFXYoIM

Verdict:

because of the lack of foam and venting which result in you getting soaked of sweat, and lack of durability and a lens that snaps out way too easily I can’t recommend this goggle.

long term review: Mavic Stratos gloves

if you are used to Shimano or Giro gloves, get a size smaller, atleast if you are in europe.

i got these in large but they are too big for me,hopefully i get these in medium.

this is a well made glove.

these gloves do not have padding, this might be a negative thing to you, but if you use ESI grips, or another silicone grip, you wont regret having this glove.

i use ESI Chunky green grips with these gloves its a good combo.

but on hard grips like those that came with all my trek bikes, it will be uncomfortable and you will get fatigue

afther a crash the stitching on the left thumb ripped, but nothing that you cant fix with soem sewing.

cons:

the price, but its was worth it for me i did not wear it out just in few weeks.

rubber on finger tips will eventually wear out,(the the glue will be worn out)

pros:

  • good feel, you feel every thing you touch the glove is not restricting your movement.
  • Breathable perfect for hot weather
  • easy to take & off
  • material used for the palm is strong, my experience wit hthis material is that it last a very long time.
  • come in 2 color choises
  • grips well i have tried them on Easton mtb grip, bontrager grips, and esi grips.
  • rubber on the finger tips for extra grip, they actually work, not like on Shimano gloves that make it slippery.
  • only wear is the rubber grips that are gloves on the finger tips.but just one of those loosened,
  • the materials used are strong,
  • will fit very thick hands

REVIEW: 2015 BLISS ARG Vertical Elbow Pad & BLISS ARG Vertical Extended- NOT! recommend

updated.27.09.2015

i do not recommend these: read why below:i have been riding  wit these on every ride no matter if just to commute or to ride on the trails. now as i have used them a lot i can say that they are not up to my standards.

Design and materials used:

Bliss use the similar mesh design and materials to Raceface,Fox’ Launch Pro,661’s Rage Hard Shell pads, but with just one elastic strap,of course Race Face and 611’s will stay in palce better. If they use the exact same materials they will wear out fast, specially if u grap them by the mesh where the wear elastic materials are and the side pads, which is not what I have done on my bliss ARG’s but they are just too weak they will break and get big holes no matter what you do or not do, so if you crash or take them on and off a lot they will wear off.,this is unacceptable to make such  bad products.

protective gear must be durable and withstand much abuse, and be comfortable, if its not don’t buy it unless its the only thing you can get at the time.

Pros:

  • lightweight
  • Kevlar® at elbow area, which is very durable material.
  • more comfortable than plastic pads not as bulky and weird looking when you have a jersey on top of them.

cons:

  • mine are bit too big,i should have gone with size small.
  • Hook and loop fastener wear out fast more strap loops needed.
  • the elastic rubber mattress alike mesh is not durable. Just after few weeks or riding and the mesh on my left pad ripped.it is made of weak of weak material, the mesh stretched until the point it got big holes in it.the elastic band is rubbing holes

BLISS ARG Vertical Extended Knee Pad

Pros:

  • lightweight
  • Kevlar® at elbow area
  • Hook and loop fastener on the works well
  • more comfortable than plastic pads not as bulky and weird looking when you have a jersey on top of them.
  • they don’t feel warm all around, like the elbow pads.

Cons:

  • Hook and loop fastener wear out fast
  • more strap loops needed.
  • silly logo on the bottom that wears out and looks ugly
  • they are uncomfortable on the back side of your knees
  • too little side protection, so the handlebar can hit your knee on the side
  • they don’t stay in place, they slide down, look at pic below: this is how they will be afther u have doen soem hard riding. they should be about 2 or 3 cm upward, they wear otu pretty fast,so the elastic on the sides wears out and dries out, it looks to be rubber.
  • IMG_20150928_142604 the result of wearing bliss arg pads,it hurts afther a while.
  • the front of the pad gets very hot in the sun, almost feels like a heating oven
  • 26468477125_b8bda49701_c
they stretched so much that I needed to pull the elastic strap past the hook and loop fastener

the seat grips well, i use craft path shorts.

i have my spare/winter bike that is bit too small, and i have the saddle maxed out to the back, and the rails have been bendt,i do nto know if its caused by my weight or roadbumps pushing the saddle into my bum.

IMG_20151212_202256

keep the saddle as close to centre as possible. me sitting and riding on ruff road will give this result, but this will happen on most saddles, but I put the saddle in the middle position and the saddle rails straightened out almost straight.

After I adjusted the seat angle to slightly backwards, it improved the comfort a lot.

Pros:

  • comfortable,even I like rounder seats better
  • the front is not flexing much,I think this saddle will last a while, and not get worn out of flex on the front until it falls part, like some saddles do,but the common issue most of saddles have is that the flex make the screws holding the front in place pop out,but I prefer the method Fabric use,no screws at all.

cons:

  • clicking sound from the seat flexing.

Review: Craft Path M Bike Loose Fit Shorts

this review was updated 27.06.2016

pros:

  • Good wenting on inner thighs and crotch area
  • Good venting in the rear
  • bright colors
  • different colors
  • the outer short is comfortable
  • 2 pockets with zippers.
  • zipper vents over the pockets
  • 2 good buttons
  • YKK sippers they work well
  • perfect fitting chamois, not too long not too short.
  • Velcro adjustment staps

Cons:

  • Pockets are in awkward place.
  • the padding/chamois is not damping as Poc’s chamois i presently purchased,it should bit  bit bigger  both i the front and the rear.
  • the shorts are too short to be used in the fall/autumn,winter
  • Hard to open and close side venting zipper. The side venting is in a awkward angle, so the zipper is hard top close and open. The zipper handle is sliding out of my fingers when I try to close  or open the vent.
  • too short venting zipper, should be longer and on the side instead for perfect venting,so you will get bit too hot in the warm summer days. I now use Poc trail vent shorts and they are perfect  when it comes to side venting.
  • chamois short does not fit well ,private parts don’t stay in place, the elastic band should be bit tighter, should not be as big in the rear, the chamois shorts should be cut and stitched differently, when I wear these shorts they are do not fit as i the pictures,I need to have the elastic bad all the way to the waist.
  • Too short  hood and loop straps:but large is is so bit that to make it tight i need to go over the limit on the straps.
  • the  insides of the pockets can get stuck in the zipper if you are not careful.
  • the the zippers can get stuck on  the inside of the pockets if you are not careful.
  • I have 2 pairs of these shorts one in large and one in medium, on both the stitching in the middle in the crotch area ripped.

27.05.2016 I tried on the the medium shorts,I have not sopped crowing 100% yet, so they no longer fit my hips are a lot wider

I am using POC shorts in size 32,the Craft shorts in large fits, but don’t need the adjustment any more,I am now 36inches in the hips.

the size large Craft shorts are 2cm narrower than the Poc trail vent in size 32.

verdict/conclusion:

I can’t recommend these shorts, because the chamois underwear that is included is too small and thin, I prefer Poc’s chamois.

you are better of getting more expensive shorts,i recommend Poc trail vent shorts, instead because got 2 pairs and i am satisfied with them.

LED Lenser T7 no.7439 light & Bracket/mount review

its not a bike specific light but,i need a decent light for commuting, but its a horrible choice if you use it at max power for long distances after few days you need new batteries, So I can’t recomend this light for mountain biking.

so i got my self LED Lenser M7 LED  (Item no. 7439) flashlight,

i got a clamp too it fits thick bars and comes with rubber spacers os it can fit on thinner handlebars.

its not a cheap light but the good light are often expensive.

if you crash or get off the pedal and hit the light you will push the light out or almost out of the clamp, but during rides it does not slide out.

pros:

  • light light adjustment
  • made of metal so its strong, but its heavier than plastic lights of course
  • nice button on the back with nice feel, and click.
  • pattern for extra grip
  • good battery cartridge, you cant get the batteries or cartridge stuck inside the light.

cons

  • Last about 6 Hours  with energizer max power batteries, after 6 hours it is getting too weak to ride with
  • lights up way too small area, its useless for riding fast in dark woods or paths/trails.
  • it should be water proof but i got damp inside on the inside behind the glass, but i have ridden in some really bad rain.

Bracket item No. 7799-PT

pros:

  • tool less easy to mount the clamp/mount
  • easy to take off the clamp/mount
  • clamp got turning joint so you can’t adjust the light for the right angle

cons:

  • after more than 1 season the light began to slip forward when riding hard, but that can be fixed with some rubber or tape.

Verdict:

This is a ok flash light, but not a bike light, way too narrow and short beam.

Buy a proper bike light.

shimano EXPLORER LONG GLOVE- low quality gloves

Size: i purschased these in size Medium, they fit well, but shimano the Bontrager gloves i had were size large

cycling:

Ather some weeks the gloves show signs of use on the material used on the grey/pink part of the fingers

ather few months with riding

very breathable

the finger tip stripes will fall off afther some weeks of riding, they are pointless they do nto provide extra grip

the finger tips got worn out on theindex fingers

if you crash and fall on the asphalt the the synthethic leather can ripp little bit,if its a big rash they will proobably be ruined, it depends how hard  you hit the ground.

the thumb part changed color from black to brown on my pair i use for riding.

in october they were totally worn out. stitches broke on the fingers.

the gloves could use soem more padding

simracing:

i have 2 pairs of this glove. they don’t look that mutch used .

if you are a drifter they will be worn out as fast as on a mountainbike.

PROS

  •  comfortable
  • breathable

cons

not durable

the shapes on the finers do nto give you extra grip

the touch fasteners straps wornout afther few months,

no tourch screen support on the finger tips

2015 Mavic Notch trail helmet long term review

2015 Mavic Notch helmet with 2015 adidas pinner gogles

pros:

  • the price , for $110 you get a decent helmet
  • the Weight : 310 grams (M)
  • good ventilation
  • ERGO HOLD SL retention system mall and confortable                               http://www.mavic.com/helmets/ergo-hold-sl-retention-system
  • the adjsutment knob feels nicee easy to use grips well.
  • the cussions are thicker than on most helmets i ahev seen, this makes it a confortable helmet,(unleass you wear some headwear)
  • sun guard that aclutaly is the right size,of course if you need more you need glasses anyway if the sun is so low.
  • adjustment mechanism is confortable nto liek the met crossover’s helmet where it hurts to have it on.
  • the clamps for the side straps clamps trong
  • the helmet comes in 4 colors matte blue matte black, matte white, matte yellow
  • good ventilation

cons:

  • visor is too short(Its useless when riding in sundown.
  • no visor adjsutment
  • only 3 adjsutment hole
  • If you are are careless when you take off the helmet the rear palstic straps might go out of the triple adjustment slots.
  • when i wear a buff o nmy head, the helmet will sit bit higher so the adjustment mechanism will be bit too high, witch is unconfortable. but i need to ignore that its unconfortable, when i ride in -6 degrees celsius, i need to wear some ehadwear. so thsi helmet need better adjustment.

17.11.2015 I noticed this part that is gued to the helmet loosened.

I think mavic did a good job with the comfort and ventilation.

a great review i found written by Francis Cebedo,

mtbr.com wrote a review and they the helmets did nto fit them as well as on my head.

”a medium size is too small but a large was too big as we got shell contact on the upper back of the skull.”

Bike-Tec Mario Sykkelbukse Herre anmeldelse

pris 399,-

Review Adidas ADIZERO TEMPO L short term

http://www.adidas.com/Eyewear/content/vn/products/10332/adizero-tempo-L

for me they are a perfect fit i use size small,

I have been using these for about a  half yea, i have not experienced any issues with these glasses.

I have even been wearing these under my Adidas Pinner goggles the very sunny and low sun light rides., it was still quite comfortable.

pros:

  • so comfortable i cant feel them.
  • the shape of the glasses fits my head well its tight into the forehead so flies and other insects and dirt don’t get in my eyes, but for mud protection when mountainbiking you will need goggles of course
  • TRi.FIT™, Quick-Release Hinge™
The 3 level height adjustment adapts by 8º
  • Quick-Release Hinge™ : if you drop them they the hinges will fall off that way they will not break
Cons:
  • if the fall on the ground the over-ear pieces can fall in to a crack you can’t get them out off.
  • the price

anmeldelse av C4 Sportsbrille

Disse brillene er ser ut som Limar, F60 (bilde nedenfor) &Endura Mullet(som kom i 6 farger)

These glasses look Like Limar, F60 (Picture below) & Endura Mullet(which comes in 6 colors)

Limar F60

endura-mullet-light-reactive-glasses-3224-p
